Bella, a rising senior undergraduate at Duke University, opted to take a gap year to work for ZETA as a Policy Advisor. While at Duke, she studies climate policy and critical race theory, especially as it relates to whiteness. Outside of class, Bella served as the Director of Common Ground, a social equity retreat centered around social advocacy, personal identity, and oppression and privilege. She also works side by side with community members who are experiencing or at-risk of homelessness and financial insecurity through the Community Empowerment Fund. Prior to ZETA, Bella worked at Climate Reality as the Climate & Solutions Policy Intern synthesizing climate, justice, and energy-related research for Al Gore’s global trainings and wrote curriculum for and facilitated an anti-racist white working group. She also reported for INDY Week, the Research Triangle’s lead progressive independent newspaper.
